PROJECT 5:  THE NOBEL LAUREATES

DISCUSSION OF THE RESULTS

In the early 1970's an extensive study of notable persons was completed and published by Dr. Andis Kaulins (assisted in the chi-square analysis by Drs. P.P.A.M Kop). For his data source he used the 11,439 persons listed in the Encyclopaedia Britannica, Micropaedia, 1974 edition. He did a statistical analysis of the distribution of famous persons by field of eminence and birth-date.

His conclusion was very clear, "Thus, the frequencies deviate significantly from chance and there must be something special about the frequencies distributed over the months according to profession. The CAUSE, of course, may not be directly in the STARS or PLANETS - which are simply calendric (sic) signposts - but we may find clues in annual variations of climate, light, temperature and/or geomagnetic activity. On the other hand, geomagnetic activity is a function of the solar eruptions of the Sun - and these may be related to the position of the planets in orbit."

To read this study for yourself, proceed to http://www.lexiline.com/lexiline/lexi107.htm . His study includes the results for more than 40 professions by astrological signe as well as by month of birth. He also lists the professions by rank for the astrological signes. If you are uncertain about a career choice for yourself, you should read what Dr. Kaulins discovered about the relationship between sun signes and profession in his extensive study.

Dr. Kaulins used only the distribution of the sun's position in the astrological signes. He did not use the distribution of any of the other planets. In my own study of the Nobel Laureates, as in other projects on this website, I have plotted the sector positions of the planets Mercury, Venus and Mars as well as the Earth. For all these planets I found significant distribution from random. It is clear that Dr. Kaulins and myself both agree that more scientists should be investigating the apparent significant correlation between date of birth and profession or career choice.

1. The Sun

The following box summarizes the sector counts, position of the Sun, for all the Nobel Laureates. They are shown by group ranking. The top row of numbers relates to the sector and the letters on the side relate to an individual group; for example S1 = sector 1 and C = Chemistry.

  • C - Chemistry                                   E - Economics           L - Literature        T - All 6 groups combined
  • M - Medicine & Physiology                PE - Peace                PH - Physics
   S1  S2  S3  S4  S5  S6  S7  S8  S9  S10  S11  S12
C 3         1 2     low
E   2 1 3   2   low
L 3 2 2 1 2   1     low
M     1   low 2     3
PE     3 low   3 1     2
PH   3   1         2 low 3
T     1             low

COMPARISON: Drs. Kaulin's study of eminent professionals includes many more people than just those who have become Nobel Laureates. Some of our mutual findings are exactly the same, some are similar and some are different. For example, he looked at the birth information for 2,230 eminent professionals in literature and found that the sector 11 group ranked highest whereas in my study of Nobel Laureates in literature (total = 88) I found that the sector 4 and 7 groups ranked highest. We both found that sector 6 people ranked highest in Chemistry and in both studies the total count for that group was almost identical.

Both studies are very informative and useful. Drs. Kaulin's study includes the Nobel Laureates as well as other individuals who were eminent in their profession. My own study looks at the very best of the very best in each group and so it is a smaller study. An overall picture may be obtained by looking at both studies, especially for career counseling or for determining what one might study at a university. Both studies indicate that there is a relationship between career of choice and our solar system at the time of birth.

My study of the Nobel Laureates is further expanded by including the sector placements for the planets Mercury, Venus and Mars for each individual within each group. Information on the results is shown in the following tables.

2. Mercury

The following table gives the top three rankings for heliocentric Mercury in the 12 sectors for each of the 6 groups.

  • C = Chemistry            E = Economics            L = Literature                            T - all groups combined
  • P = Peace                 PH = Physics               M = Medicine & Physiology
  S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7 S8 S9 S10 S11 S12
C     1 3     low       2
E     2       2 1   3 low
L   3   low 1   2
M     1     low 2   3
P         2   1 1   3   low
PH     2 low     3     1
T     1     low

EXAMPLE: In the table you can see that if your ambition is to be a chemist it would be to your advantage to be born with Mercury in sector 3, 11, or 4. Sector 7 ranks very high for all the Laureates except those in Chemistry. There are Nobel Laureates with Mercury in sector 1 but not enough of them to rank very high or very low but somewhere in between.

3. Venus

The following table gives the ranking for heliocentric Venus in each of the 12 sectors for each of the 6 groups in the study of Nobel Laureates.

  S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7 S8 S9 S10 S11 S12
C     1 2 low     3
E   3           low     1 2
L 3 1   2 low       2
M 1         3   low     2
P 1 2         low 2   3
PH 2       3 low 1   3     low
T 1       low   low     low

Although Mercury did not rank very high or low in Sector 1, Venus ranks well in Sector 1 in four of the groups and when all the Venus locations are combined, Sector 1 retains first place.

4. Mars

The following table displays the ranking for heliocentric Mars in the 12 sectors for each of the 6 groups in the study of Nobel Laureates.

  S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7 S8 S9 S10 S11 S12
C low     2         1 3   1
E       3   1     low   2
L low 1             3 2   1
M 2   low     1 2     2
P       3     2 low 1
PH     3   low         2 1
T               low 1 1

When I look at the results for the placement of these four planets in the 12 sectors for each of the groups and see the patterns that develop I cannot help but see a factor here that relates to our inner direction, our consciousness, a factor that pushes each of us in one direction or another in life. The evidence seems to clearly indicate that some such factor is present.
