COSMIC DATA-BANK UNDERSTANDING THE HELIOGRAM The heliogram must be considered as a whole and understood through its various parts. As you study your heliogram there are many things you know about yourself immediately. 1. Heliogram Type Are you a bowl or a bee type or one of the other possibilities? If you have a bowl type heliogram more than half the population of the planet will find you much like them and feel a kinship with you. On the other hand, fewer than 1% of the population have a bee type heliogram. This is not to say you won't be popular if you have a bee type heliogram. Olympic gold medal swimmer Ian Thorpe is a "bee" and his Australian countrymen adore him. He is mobbed everywhere he goes and sometimes he seems to enjoy it and sometimes he doesn't. 'Bees' tend to be loners. 2. Planetary Aspects The angular relationships between the planets is another important factor to consider when delineating a heliogram. A good balance between the square and trine aspects with a higher count for the squares manifests as more activity, action and self-motivation, a higher internal vigor. The trines manifest in relaxation and laziness. Hopefully you have a balance between the two with a leaning in favor of the squares. The closer an aspect is to exactness the stronger it will manifest in the personality. Example: If you have three, square aspects, from different planets to natal Mercury, the dominant square aspect will be the one closest to exactness which is 90°. All of the three square aspects to Mercury are important however dependent upon the given situation you might be experiencing. For all the research at the Cosmic Data-Bank I use a 12 degree orb for the conjunction, square, opposition, and trine aspects. EXAMPLE: An aspect is a conjunction if the angle between the two planets is between 0° and 12°. 3. Planetary Patterns Understanding the planetary patterns takes time and experience because there are usually more than just two factors to consider. A t-square pattern for example may have as few as 3 planets involved or many more than 3 but it is always configured as two or more planets in opposition to each other squaring another planet or planets. The T-square pattern manifests as action and motivation. EXAMPLE: let us look at a T-Square composed of Saturn opposing Neptune both planets squaring Mercury on the heliogram:
Both Saturn and Neptune are making a square aspect with Mercury. The Mercury - Saturn square manifests as an orderliness of mind and the ability to produce profitable output from one's labors. The Mercury - Neptune square correlates with thinking outside the box, artistic ability, intuition, creativity, addictions and the seeking of pleasure. Once this grouping of planets becomes balanced in the individual the combination will likely manifest as the production of visionary work, artistic milestones and unusual accomplishments that may be outside the box of the existing paradigms; perhaps a visionary breakthrough in some area of life including technology. Work, structure, originality, and creative pleasure become united in this configuration when it is balanced, which may take as long as the first half of the individual's life. 4. Transits The planets never stop moving and are always found orbiting around the Sun in predictable paths. In order to know the oncoming cycles of your life you must take note of the transiting planets. For example, a conjunction to a birth planet from a transiting planet is significant in its manifestation especially if the transiting planet is Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto. The duration of the transit is very important; the transits of Mercury are of short duration and are experienced frequently while those of Neptune and Pluto happen only once in a lifetime, are of long duration and life changing in some way, especially the conjunction. A heliocentric ephemeris is needed in order to know the positions of the planets for any give date. I prefer a noon heliocentric ephemeris which lists the planetary positions for noon of the date in question. The noon position is half-way through the daily motion for a planet. There is a heliocentric ephemeris on this website. Use this link to access it: HELIO EPHEMERIS In order of strength the aspects from the transiting planets to the birth planets are:
All transits are useful but there is no doubt that some can be indicators of challenges to come, dependent upon the transiting planet and the circumstances of your life. EXAMPLE: For an elderly person, a conjunction of Pluto with natal Earth or natal Saturn on their heliogram indicates a transformation is about to take place and that wills, etc. should be in order. Astrobiology is a new science and you are in on the ground floor. The time spent learning and appreciating your heliogram and the transits to it will greatly assist you in your life. The solar system is part of your greater environment and setting aside time for its appreciation and noting its on-going cycles is good planning.
